The stone occupies the center and becomes a metaphor; the being appears under his gravity and confirms that he is the most arduous of the questions. The stone is a weightless reference, intangible in the transit through life. Its unreachable spaces are landscapes along the way, its deformations are mirrors that cloud the eyes. Rufino Mesa says on this subject:

“What has really worried me throughout the years of work as a sculptor has been to provide stable support for ideas, a container that I could assume and present what I was looking for in nature and that on some occasion I sensed that it existed within me. Glyptic is a compressed sample of the nuances that distills my way of understanding the world. The work can also be a hidden map of the deep layers of memory, since, when we think of ourselves, we find ourselves in a permanent aporia. With subtle evidences I find myself in the work, the sculpture presents the skin of the dubbed matter, the wild rock like mine, full of sores, full of pain and fear. The information overlay is a lenitive that recalls the corners where words are hidden: the 17 boxes that force us to think about moral and ethical issues. ”
